Max Jones and Luke Gosney suit up for the Phoenix again this season

We are delighted to announce that U18 junior players Max Jones and Luke Gosney will once again be suiting up for the BBL team for the 16/17 season.

17-year-old, Jones and Gosney joined the Phoenix pro team last season, having been part of the Phoenix U18 junior programme, and will also compete in the U18 Premier North for the Phoenix Juniors.

Max said “I am elated to be given the opportunity to represent the Phoenix for a second year. I know how lucky I am to be able to train and play with the pro team alongside the likes of Jamell and Josh, in what will be my last year as a junior.”

Junior player and last years squad player Ben Goodacre will not be joining up with the BBL team as he will focus on his chosen career path in sports therapy and rehab. He will now shadow our medical team for the upcoming season and we will help support Ben in every way to pursue his career in sport.

General Manager James Brice said “It is great to have Max and Luke part of our pro team once again. The development they gained from last year was clear to see and the experience of being around the setup is invaluable for them to help progress with their basketball careers.

On Ben Goodacre “We are really happy that Ben will still have involvement around the pro team this year. He worked extremely hard last season and earned his spot on the team, and we are delighted that we are able to help and support him, with the next stage of his career.”

Coach O’Reilly said “We are always looking to develop our own home grown players. Having Max and Luke involved with our team is great news for the organisation. I have seen both the boys in action and I am confident they can do very well this year.”
