Worcester Wolves recorded their first win of the new BBL Championship campaign on Friday night, beating Cheshire Phoenix 91-78, and ending a three-game winless opening.

Turning point – Wolves broke an early stalemate and scored the last seven points of the first period to make it 20-11 on a Jermel Kennedy score. They maintained that edge until the third quarter, when they settled the game with a 12-3 surge, Ashton Khan scoring a three-pointer to contribute to his five in that run.
Key stat – Wolves dominated the offensive glass, dragging in 15 offensive rebounds and scoring 21 second chance points. Dallin Bachynski (6) and Alejandro Navajas (5) shared 11 of those boards.
Game hero(es) – Ashton Khan shot 8/12 to lead Worcester for the first time this season with 17 points, while also dishing out seven assists. He was supported by a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds from Bachynski, who was locked in a battle with fellow seven-footer CJ Gettys, who led all scorers with 23.
