Leicester Riders 100 (22,52,74) (Bernardini 32, Clark 23, Washington 10)

Leicester Riders continued their winning start to the season with a 90-100 victory over Cheshire Phoenix on the road, on Sunday.

Tyler Bernardini produced a near-flawless display from the floor with 32 points containing just one miss to help keep the unbeaten start going.

Riders were quick out of the blocks with an 11-2 burst to start the game. The home side were still down nine at the end of the first, but responded brightly in the second period.

A 15-3 run, capped by a three from Earl Brown saw Cheshire take the lead at 33-32. However, Bernardini just couldn’t miss in the first half and raced to 24 points on perfect 8-of-8 shooting to help his side move ahead by five at the interval.

The home side continued to stay in contention in the third but were unable to re-take the lead and Conner Washington’s lay-in at the buzzer handed the Riders a six-point cushion to take into the final period.

Leicester were able to maintain control and pulled clear to complete their sixth league victory as the efforts of the home side fell short.

Earl Brown top scored for Cheshire with 23 points as they drop to 1-3 in the league.
