Here at #NIXNATION we are very pleased to announce that this season we will be working with The Hospice of The Good Shepherd to help to raise money for the charity.
The Hospice provides palliative care for people who reside within Cheshire West and Chester and Deeside. All their services are free of charge to patients and families facing life threatening or limiting illnesses. As well as their in-patient unit, the Hospice also has out-patient services, and a therapy centre that offers a wide range of therapies and a dedicated bereavement team to support within the community.
Alongside a small government fund, the Hospice relies on fundraising, donations, events and corporate partnerships to cover their £4million annual running costs. There is a lot to look forward to for the Hospice this coming year as they aim to open their brand new extension in early 2017 in order to be able to expand the services they offer for those who need them most.
After many talks and deliberations, the choice to go with The Hospice of The Good Shepherd came from a special place in a lot of our hearts after they took such amazing care of our very own Mickey Clifford. For those that are not aware, Mickey was a long standing fan of the club who sadly passed away in 2014 after he lost his battle with cancer. The nurses and staff at the Hospice helped to make Mickey comfortable and so what better way of saying Thank You than this.
