Brandon Boggs leads Bristol Flyers to a crucial win over their nearest rivals in the Play-off race.

Bristol Flyers 96 – 93 Cheshire Phoenix (24-28, 47-44, 79-66)

Bristol Flyers have strengthened their position in the BBL Championship Play-off places after beating their nearest rivals, Cheshire Phoenix, 96-93 at home.

The eighth-placed Flyers have now won four of their last five games and hold six consecutive league wins over the Phoenix dating back over two years.

Turning point – Flyers dominated the third quarter as Brandon Boggs scored 12 points in a 21-10 spell to take a double figure lead at 75-60. But Phoenix came back in kind in the fourth, getting in front themselves at 91-86 inside the final two minutes. The hosts won it with a 10-2 finish, sparked by an Adam Weary three-pointer before another triple from Panos Mayindombe won the game as he made it 94-93 with 16 seconds to play.

Key stat – In their third highest scoring game of the season, Flyers shot 54% from the field, including 42% from three-point range. Many of those came in transition, as they scored 23 points from the 16 turnovers that they forced.

Game hero – Six Flyers scored in double-figures, and they were led by Brandon Boggs who hit 22 points while shooting 75%, including 3-3 three-pointers.
