The Nix and Essar deliver the Hoops4Health programme

Cheshire Phoenix are delighted to announce the continued partnership with Essar to deliver the Hoops4Health programme in Ellesmere Port.

The Cheshire Phoenix, since its move to the Ellesmere Port Sports Village, has expanded their health education programme at local schools across Cheshire and Warrington.

With the financial support provided by Essar once again, this has ensured that every Year 5 and 6 pupil in Ellesmere Port primary schools will be offered the opportunity to join in the Hoops 4 Health initiative. The healthy living education programme involves professional players from the Phoenix using basketball as an activity to convey a range of positive health messages to primary school children. This includes the importance of keeping physically active and promoting all aspects of a healthy lifestyle.

James Brice, General Manager said: “It is fantastic that Essar will once again continue to support our programme which has such a positive impact on so many young people across Ellesmere Port. We look forward to working closer than ever with Essar, making an positive impact on the local community.”

Ian Cotton, Head of Communications and Community, Essar Oil (UK) added: “The Cheshire Phoenix Hoops4Health programme is a fun and effective way of encouraging children to think about healthy lifestyle principles and we are delighted that we are able to support the initiative.”

As well as the healthy eating messages, the Hoops4Heath programme will give the children the opportunity to meet the players and the club also make sure that they have tickets to come and watch the Phoenix live at the Ellesmere Port Sports Village and join the ever growing band of Phoenix supporters.
