Surrey Scorchers 103 (22,53,78) (Taylor 24, Neighbour 23, Rollins 20)
Cheshire Phoenix 80 (23,48,59) (Briggs 29, Adekoya 21, Wilcher 13)
Surrey Scorchers followed up last week’s win on the road with a convincing 103-80 home victory over Cheshire Phoenix.
The Scorchers are hitting form at the right time ahead of their upcoming BBL Cup Semi-Final clash with Glasgow Rocks.
Quincy Taylor led the way against his former side with 24 points and nine assists with Will Neighbour and Chaz Rollins adding 23 and 20 points respectively.
Surrey had raced out to an 18-9 lead in the first, but the visitors responded to edge ahead at 22-23 after 10 minutes. The home side regained the upper-hand in the second and went into the break with a five-time lead.
The third period proved pivotal as Surrey held their opponents to just 11 points whilst building their lead to almost 20 points, thanks in large to an 18-2 start in which Taylor scored 10 points.
Surrey’s advantage did pass the 20-point mark in the fourth and they were able to comfortably wrap up a fourth league win to move clear of the bottom three sides.
Two of Cheshire’s recent additions combined for 50 points in the loss with 29 from Maurice-Lewis Briggs as they remain in joint 10th on a 2-7 record.
