Happy weekend for Scorchers after they shoot down Cheshire

Surrey Scorchers 111-94 Cheshire Phoenix (20-19, 42-37, 78-64)

Surrey Scorchers completed a weekend double as they defeated Cheshire Phoenix 111-94 for their sixth straight home success.

The home side poured in 69 points in the second half as they strengthen their place inside the Play-Off positions.

Leading scorers – Hicks 25, Ogedengbe 21, Owumi 18 (Scorchers) – May-Thompson 19, Riley/Jackman 15 (Phoenix)

Turning point – Surrey’s lead was five at the half before putting on an offensive clinic saw them pull away as they put up 36 points in the third before adding 33 more in the fourth to seal the win.

Key stat – Cheshire had 64 points after 30 minutes as they tried to stay in contention, but it was 69 points in 20 minutes after the break from the Scorchers that allowed them to race away to victory.

Game hero(es) – Tony Hicks led the way with 25 points and also handed out 8 assists, while Tayo Ogedengbe added 21 points on 70% shooting.
