Phoenix revive Play-Off hopes with precious success

BBL Championship
Cheshire Phoenix 91-84 Worcester Wolves (29-22, 48-47, 67-61)

The last couple of months have been rough for Cheshire Phoenix, but the north-west side will be hoping they can finish the campaign strongly to sneak into a Play-Off spot.

Their cause was helped with a hard-fought home triumph against top five side Worcester, with Ben Thomas and his players no doubt hoping it will spark a run down the season stretch.

Leading scorers – May-Thompson 22, Jackman 19, Riley 16 (Phoenix), Beamon 27, Gilchrist 15, Ojo 13 (Wolves)

Turning point – Cheshire jumped into the box-seat with an 11-0 run midway through the third quarter.

Key stat – Phoenix were clinical and shot 51% from two-point range and that was a big factor.

Game hero(es) – It was a team effort with Malcom Riley not far away from a triple-double after harvesting 16 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists, Orlan Jackman a near double-double of 19 points and 9 boards, while Rob Sandoval handed out 10 assists.
