Following today’s draw, the Nix have been handed a home tie against the Worcester Wolves.
The fixture will be played on the 5th January at the Cheshire Oaks Arena.
Cheshire have advanced past the first round of the Trophy four seasons in a row, with their last opening round loss coming against the Plymouth Raiders way back in the 2014-15 season.
Phoenix last lifted the Trophy in the 2003-04 season, under the ‘Chester Jets’ name. They were knocked out of last year’s edition by the London Lions, away at the Copper Box Arena.
The final of the tournament will be hosted in Glasgow at the Emirates Arena, on the 15th March 2020.
