Following today’s BBL Cup Semi-Final and BBL Trophy First Round draws, we can confirm that we will be taking on the winner of Sheffield Sharks/London Lions in the BBL Cup Semi-Final, should we progress past the Leicester Riders this Friday. The Nix, under the guidance of Ben Thomas, won the Cup during the 2017-18 season, however they’ve failed to advance past the Quarter-Finals stage of the competition ever since.
We have been handed a home tie against Sony Centre Fury in the First Round of the BBL Trophy, to be played on the second weekend of 2022. Cheshire have advanced past the first round of the Trophy in each of the last six seasons, with their last opening round loss coming against the Plymouth Raiders way back in the 2014-15 season.
Phoenix last lifted the Trophy in the 2003-04 season, under the ‘Chester Jets’ name. They were knocked out of last year’s edition by the Glasgow Rocks in the Quarter-Final stage.
The final of the tournament will be hosted in Glasgow at the Emirates Arena, on the 20 March 2022.
