Our fantastic Captain David Aliu has announced today his retirement after a amazing professional career. David spent two years as Cheshire Phoenix captain over seasons 14/15 & 15/16 after a spell with Manchester Giants.
David played a vital role in growing the club off the floor through its expanding community program.
David said “It was always been a childhood dream to play for the Cheshire organisation having grown up watching each week. The fans are unmatched and to be apart of that will always hold a special place in my heart.”
“I hope over the past two years I have helped the club progress and had a positive impact on and off the court. “
Cheshire Phoenix General Manager James Brice paid tribute to the captain “It has been a pleasure working along side David this past year. He has been a great role model for all our young fans. I know it was a really tough decision for him to make, when you look back at what he has achieved in his career, he is someone for the younger generation to look up to. David registered his 3000th BBL career point as a Phoenix player, contributed hugely to some great victories and lead the team with professionalism and integrity during his time here. We would like to wish David, Victoria, Sophia and Lucia all the best for the future, they will alway be welcome at the Phoenix”
